About me
Ms. Abigail Smith is a well-educated and experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst on the Managed Services Team at Avineon. Her diverse skillset includes, but is not limited to, mapping and maintaining land record spatial databases, developing geospatial models to automate workflows, performing QA/QC on spatial datasets, as well as writing and teaching technical workflows. Ms. Smith has completed a Master of Science in Geospatial Science and defended a thesis entitled “Identifying Populations at Greater Risk of Malaria Due to Hydroelectric Dams in Ethiopia: A Case Study of the Gilgel Gibe III Hydroelectric Dam.” While completing her Master’s program at the University of North Alabama, Ms. Smith served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for multiple GIS and Remote Sensing courses. While in undergraduate at Auburn University, Ms. Smith won both the Auburn College of Sciences and Mathematics Dean’s Medalist award and the GAB Outstanding Undergraduate Geography Student award. Ms. Smith is an Assistant Wheelchair Basketball Coach for the UAH Ability Sports Network and served as an inaugural member of Hexagon U.S. Federal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
